PRAGUE, July 6 (Xinhua) -- The Czech Republic decided to send two firefighters to Thailand to check whether it can help rescue the 12 boys and their football coach who are trapped in a flooded cave in the north of Thailand, said the Czech Foreign Ministry on its website on Friday.

The two experienced firefighters left on Friday afternoon. They will fly via Vienna to Bangkok, from where they will move to the scene of the accident in northern Thailand.

According to fire authority spokeswoman Nicole Zaoralova, they should reach the place on Saturday morning local time.

The Czech Foreign Ministry said the two firefighters will cooperate with the Czech embassy in the place and after an agreement with the authorities of Thailand, they will be checking what type of help, including the loaning of pumps, the Czech Republic could provide to the Thai rescue service for the extrication of the 12 boys and their coach from the cave so that the rescue action were as efficient as possible.

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis offered assistance to Thai authorities in recent days. Babis said on Friday along with Foreign Minister Jan Hamacek that they had agreed on sending the two firefighters. The Czech Republic has also offered the assistance of sending Czech divers to Thailand.

The football team was found by rescuers on Monday after nine days since they got trapped by water in the cave. The debated options of rescuing them include waiting for the water to recede or saving them with the help of divers.
